About the Melbourne Male Voice Choir
The Melbourne Male Voice Choir ("MMVC") re-formed on 14th January 1977 - the Queen's Silver Jubilee year. In the 44 years since then MMVC has earned its reputation as one of the East Midlands' premier choirs.
We are an enthusiastic group of choristers and we perform both traditional male voice items together with some modern and challenging pieces, lead by our Musical Director Mr David Sewell, accompanied on the piano by Ms Charlotte Harris. Our current Repertoire can be seen here. The Choir varies in size and we are always looking for new recruits. There is not a formal audition process. The Musical Director will take you to one side and ask you to sing a few lines and notes to gauge your natural range. Are you a Bass or a Baritone, a Second Tenor or a Top Tenor? There's only one way to find out. And there's tea, coffee and biscuits at half time. A warm welcome awaits you. The Choir practices each Monday between 7:00pm and 9:00pm at the Royal British Legion in Melbourne (see below). If you would like to make a donation to our funds please contact our Treasurer, John Smallwood, via the Contacts page. Potential business donors might like to note that the MMVC is a Registered Charity. |
