In the last few months we have welcomed two young lads, Jaidyn and Samuel, who are very keen to sing with us.

They are coming on really well and in view of their age are well able, under the personal direction of our Musical Director David Sewell, to sing a mellow top tenor.

Although our member numbers are currently lower than average for the Choir, we remain a talented and enthusiastic group of male singers and we welcome anyone who would like to try male voice choir singing.

Melbourne Assembly Rooms will be the venue for a concert by The Travelling People on Saturday 7th May, commencing at 7pm.  Formed in 1967 as "The Melbourne Folk Trio" they were a popular group in the area in the 1960s and 1970s, during which time they changed their name to the Travelling People and recorded an LP.  They disbanded but have reformed in recent years.  Rev’d Canon Dave Perkins, one of the group’s members, is now Vicar of Edensor near Bakewell.  They will be supported by Melbourne Male Voice Choir who will sing two short sets.  There will be a licensed bar.  Admission is £12.50 and tickets can be obtained from Melbourne Assembly Rooms, Melbourne News, from the Choir Secretary Seymour Bell on 01332 703992 or pay on the door.
